What is involved in a Spay?

All of our surgeries follow the same guidelines to ensure the utmost of care while your pet is in our care, to see details of these guidelines please visit our surgery page.

A midline abdominal incision is made, extended through tissue layers into the abdomen. The uterus is located and externalized. The ovaries and uterus are then clamped, tied off appropriately to eliminate bleeding and surgically removed (the cervix is left in place.) Once complete, the abdomen is observed for any obvious signs of bleeding and then sutured closed in several layers.
