Our dogs and cats age much faster than we do, one year for them is roughly equivalent to 7 years for us. A lot can change in 7 years, thus it is important for us to see our patients at least once per year, twice annually is ideal for our senior patients. During the examination the medical team will address any concerns you have at home with your pet, discuss things like nutrition and parasites as well as any necessary vaccinations.
All patients will receive a thorough examination at each visit to ensure they are healthy. When it comes to vaccinations, we want to ensure there are no red flags – things like infections, skin disease and compromised immune systems are all good reasons not to vaccinate; if the body is already under strain, vaccinations may add to this strain and not be as effective.
